unit 6 Blog Exercise

Dear Professor and Classmates,
I am glad that we were able to review this exercise in our seminar. To me it could be catagorized as a great prayer, a great creed, and a great lesson. It really does make you feel good. I discovered that sometimes I am selfish only praying for the ones that I know. As far as the assessment process, Ichose the Biological aspect as the area that I need to grow and develop in. In this area is where I could relieve a lot of stress from my life, and have the most room for improvement. It is the answer for long term and short term needs. As far as activities, I need to move and exercise on a daily basis, continue to improve on watching what I eat, and I need to continue to learn how to heal from the inside out.

  1. Gina,

Sometimes, praying for just those we love is okay...just think about all the ones we know and love and how deep all of their concerns are and when you add the ones we don't know...it adds up. I don't think it is selfish..at least you are praying for people and that is what matters. Did you ever see the scene in Evan Almighty where he gets emails from EVERYONE in the world asking for help and he gets overwhelmed? That reminds me of praying for the world...because it is overwhelming to think about the magnitude of suffering going on in the world today!

Great goals you have and I getting moving is so important!!

  2. I agree that it is nice to spend time thinking of others and ways that we can help others have a better time with life. I do a lot of time thinking about this and not as much time as I should acting on it. This exercise is a nice reminder for people that others need our help and not just our thoughts, but our time and energy through volunteering. This is something I think I know would wind up doing if I continue with the loving kindness exercise on a routine basis.

  3. Prayer is very important and yes I view this as a great prayer as well. It is important to look at mankind as a whole and that we should look to help each other even the people we don't know. It is easy to pray and help people we know but we need to reach out to others that we don't know to pass on loving kindness and we shall get loving kindness in return.

  4. Hi Gina,

I am with you about improving my diet and certain behaviors such as eating when I am stressed or overly tired. My stress level is usually out the roof, so I have to manage that as well. It is very challenging.
