Unit 5 Blog Post

Dear Professor and Classmates,
1. In comparison to the Loving Kindness exercise, the subtle mind exercise is a much more successful exercise. In this exercise there is actually an action to concentrate on. When giving yourself a thought to ponder on (or subject) as in the first exercise the mind can still wander easily. I am much happier and have been more successful with the second exercise.
2. The connection between spiritual wellness, mental wellness, and physical wellness is necessary. You can't be whole without one of these. Each work hand in hand to create optimal health. Each one is a benefit to the other in ways of healing and cleansing. Each of these give us strength, wisdom, and the ability to heal ourselves and others.

  1. Hi Gina,

I think this exercise worked well for me too. I think the loving kindness worked just as well because I would rather focus on others in need (I sometimes feel a little selfish when spending time on my own needs). I know it is important to do both though because in one exercise, we are sending out positive thoughts to others and this energy is focused on them as well as us and the subtle mind exercise is more focused on us learning to be calm abiding and learning to clear our mind of chatter.

    Have a wonderful monday!

    One word:

    Give

  2. Hi Gina,

I could not agree more with you. I think the exercise this week was much more helpful for my particular mental chatter. I also found it helpful to try and witness with my thoughts instead of trying to control them. Excellent blog!

  3. Hi Gina,
I agree with your comparison of the exercises. The loving kindness exercise seems to have no direction for me as there is nothing to prevent distractions from occurring. The other exercise was much more helpful as it gave you a direction and a more defined focus!
