Unit 10 Blog

Dear Professor and Classmates,
On the unit 3 exercise I scored a 1 in physical well being, an 8 in spiritual well being, and a 9 in psychological well being. Now I would score myself the same. I haven't changed due to and increasing demand in my schedule.
I have made only slight progress toward the activities that I stated for myself. I guess that is better than none. I am trying to take the time. The 3 minute refelection works the best. This means that my goals are still pretty far away, but overnight is not going to be the outcome.
Throughout this course, I have learned a lot. I have learned how to begin and a few things to teach about inner healing. How inner healing is definitly a large part of health, happiness, and wholeness. I have also learned the power of cognitive functions.

Running Head: My Holistic and Integral Health Plan

My Holistic and Integral Health Plan
I. Introduction
It is important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually, and physically because they then can learn to understand their patients/clients as a whole. They can not only help their patients/clients to treat their symptoms, but they can also help them to reveal underlying causes that they may not even realize as problems. In order to reach my personal goals, I must experince growth in two areas: physical and spiritual.
II. Assessment
On a scale of 1-10, I can rate my self as follows:
Spiritual Wellness- 6
Physical Wellness- 2
Psychological Wellness- 9
I assess that I am a strong spiritual person that is not stopping to reflect and keep communication open. I physically am a mess. I need to move, move, move, and psychologically I am healthy with the need to stop and clear my mind on a daily basis.
III. Goal Development
One goal for myself in each area would be:
Physical Wellness- To begin to exercise on a regular basis
Spiritual Wellness- To schedule a time for daily reflection
Psychological Wellness- I want to stay away from negativity and negative thoughts
IV. Practices for Personal Health
Strategies that I could use to reach my physical wellness goal is to set up a workout program for myself. For example, I could speed walk on a daily basis and use the ab circle daily. Strategies to reach my spiritual wellness goal would be to set up a moment of the day to reflect, pray, and read the Lord’s word. Lastly, a strategy to reach my psychological goal would be to watch my company and use the mind exercises that I learned this term on a daily basis. Examples of these exercises are the 3 minute reflection and subtle mind.
V. Commitment
For the next six months I will make a chart and record my progress in the above areas daily. I will make my family be my support and help me on my way. This attempt at growth will start on the 15th day of April 2010 so I can move through the preparation steps toward success. I will keep a progressive and supportive journal and scrapbook to guide me from start to finish on my journey to health, happiness and wholeness. If I can prove satisfactory progress with my goals for one month, I will add one more exercise/activity.

Unit 8 Posting

Dear Classmates and Friends,
It would be nice to have time to use this blog on a daily basis as a journal or for contacting, but it is hard enough to just do the assignments. For this weeks question, I would like to choose Loving Kindness and Subtle Mind. I believe that the loving kindness exercise will help me to think of others and give me a focal point when relaxing and meditating. The Subtle mind exercise will help me to reach an inner part of my mind to begin healing. Learning to control the mind will be a great start to healthy mental fitness.

Unit 7 Blog Exercise

Hello Everyone,
1. I must point out that coffee is good only until a certain point. I drink too much. This makes it very hard for one to meditate. I do like this exercise the best. It gave me a great point and lesson at the same time to focus on. I am still having a hard time with the guided instruction after so many minutes. Mindful meditation has created peace in my psychological wellness. I would like to continue one of these exercises on a daily basis.
2. As for the statement "One can not lead another where one has not gone themself", I believe that experience counts for a lot. You can teach someone about drug addicton, but if they have not had that kind of hold or experienced what use or overuse of medication or drugs it is hard for them to know the same feeling. To the health and wellness professional, teaching someone to eat right when you have never experienced it except from a book is hard to do. As a health and wellness professional I will have to be able to develop the health aspects in my life to the fullest extent to be able to serve others. I must understand how long of a journey that this wellness is in order to bring someone else to the same point. I must implement psychological and spiritual health in my life by taking the time to relax and meditate daily. Detoxing the mind is the key.

unit 6 Blog Exercise

Dear Professor and Classmates,
I am glad that we were able to review this exercise in our seminar. To me it could be catagorized as a great prayer, a great creed, and a great lesson. It really does make you feel good. I discovered that sometimes I am selfish only praying for the ones that I know. As far as the assessment process, Ichose the Biological aspect as the area that I need to grow and develop in. In this area is where I could relieve a lot of stress from my life, and have the most room for improvement. It is the answer for long term and short term needs. As far as activities, I need to move and exercise on a daily basis, continue to improve on watching what I eat, and I need to continue to learn how to heal from the inside out.

Unit 5 Blog Post

Dear Professor and Classmates,
1. In comparison to the Loving Kindness exercise, the subtle mind exercise is a much more successful exercise. In this exercise there is actually an action to concentrate on. When giving yourself a thought to ponder on (or subject) as in the first exercise the mind can still wander easily. I am much happier and have been more successful with the second exercise.
2. The connection between spiritual wellness, mental wellness, and physical wellness is necessary. You can't be whole without one of these. Each work hand in hand to create optimal health. Each one is a benefit to the other in ways of healing and cleansing. Each of these give us strength, wisdom, and the ability to heal ourselves and others.

Unit 4 Blog Exercises

Unit 4-Loving Kindness
1. My experience with the CD exercise was pretty much the same of the others. I just don't think that they work for me. I am better reading the word and praying for people that breathing them in and out. When I reflect, I like to have a clear mind and that makes it easier for me to clear away thoughts. I definitly recommend that everyone try it to see what works best for them.
2. The concept of a mental workout is a daily way to experience psychological flourishing. The key to success is to stick with the workout. This is the key to strenghthening consciousness and creating a caring heart. Peace and tranquility along with wisdom are proven results from this exercise. Long and short term mind altering transition expansion creates good health and wellbeing. This includes being able to change negative emotions to positive ones, and by enhancing mental functions (Dacher, 2006). I would implement these exercises to clear my mind for better communication and concentration skills.

3. Activities that I can implement to reach my goals.
a) In the area of physical well being, I can add a slightly intense program of strength exercises along with a lot of walking and stretching.
b) For exercises to promote optimal spiritual well being, I can take the time to reflect and worship more often and read the things that help me spiritually.

4. I am not getting into these relaxation techniques at all. They need a little Pink Floyd in the background. I can see where light therapy can be useful, but this guy is not cutting it for me.
I will post daily after today.

As for the exercise on the blog section of our course page, I am going to have to try this when no one is around (ha, ha). I am going to have to make time for this exercise. My son is running in and out, and it sounds to me like the guy is tripping. I don't want to be ignorant to these techniques and I need to research more about these topics.
P.S. Trivia of the day. The t.v. series House. Where is the hospital located?

Just the Begining

Hi Friends,
I only learned about blogs in my Microsoft Outlook class. I don't read many of them, because for school I stick with scholarly articles. I hope this works, and it should be a fun learning experience for those of us who are new users.
